The Artis story

In our fifteenth year as an organisation and our first anniversary as a charity, Artis launches Artis Bounce; a creative mental health and wellbeing programme to support awareness and understanding through arts activities.

Artis becomes a charity to be able to help more children in areas of greatest need and explore new ways of promoting mental health and wellbeing through the arts.

Artis expands its work into Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Artis is working with over 200 schools and 50,000 children a week across London, Birmingham, Manchester, West Yorkshire.

Artis Impact, our teacher training programme, is launched to support creative tools for the classroom.

Artis Language is launched to support learners whose first language is not English. Artis expands its work into Birmingham, then later into Leeds and West Yorkshire.

Artists discovered the award-winning training we offer, and the development of mentoring and leadership positions within the organisation. Artis receives over 1,000 applications from performing artists.

Artis began working with 30 primary schools in Essex and Manchester, with a panel of just 25 arts educators. Artis wins Best New Business at the Thames Gateway Business Awards.

The first Artis school, Moulsham Infants School in Essex, began the Artis Learning programme.

Rebecca Boyle Suh founded Artis to develop a programme that offered schools a broad fusion of the performing arts that could link to every area of the primary curriculum and bring the expertise of real performers into the classroom.
