Our Mission is to transform lives through the arts by creating magical, high quality learning opportunities that help people flourish.

To achieve our mission, we have four key strategic themes:

  • Bringing the curriculum to life in schools
  • Promoting wellbeing and tackling social issues
  • Discovering and nurturing artists as educators
  • Advocating the importance of arts in learning.

The Artis story

 

2018

In our fifteenth year as an organisation and our first anniversary as a charity, Artis launches Artis Bounce; a creative mental health and wellbeing programme to support awareness and understanding through arts activities.

2017

Artis becomes a charity to be able to help more children in areas of greatest need and explore new ways of promoting mental health and wellbeing through the arts.

2016

Artis expands its work into Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

2014

Artis is working with over 200 schools and 50,000 children a week across London, Birmingham, Manchester, West Yorkshire.

2013

Artis Impact, our teacher training programme, is launched to support creative tools for the classroom.

 

 

 

 

2010

Artis Language is launched to support learners whose first language is not English. Artis expands its work into Birmingham, then later into Leeds and West Yorkshire.

2007

Artists discovered the award-winning training we offer, and the development of mentoring and leadership positions within the organisation. Artis receives over 1,000 applications from performing artists.

2005

Artis began working with 30 primary schools in Essex and Manchester, with a panel of just 25 arts educators. Artis wins Best New Business at the Thames Gateway Business Awards.

2004

The first Artis school, Moulsham Infants School in Essex, began the Artis Learning programme.

2003

Rebecca Boyle Suh founded Artis to develop a programme that offered schools a broad fusion of the performing arts that could link to every area of the primary curriculum and bring the expertise of real performers into the classroom.
